In a heartfelt celebration at its August 8 meeting, the Rotary Club of Cobourg marked a powerful philanthropic milestone, surpassing $1 million in total contributions to the Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation.

This journey began in 1989 with a $13,500 donation and has included seven significant gifts, including $500,000 toward building the new hospital in 2000 and $300,000 to the "Equipped to Care" campaign in 2016. Most recently, the Club pledged $75,000 to support the replacement of the MRI scanner in the Diagnostic Imaging department.

“Our celebration of this $1 million commitment not only honours our legacy of giving but reflects how we are walking together with our community,” said Club President Gord Ley. “This achievement was made possible by the ongoing support of our three major fundraisers and the generosity of our members and neighbours.”

Rhonda Cunningham, CEO of the NHH Foundation, highlighted not only the financial support but also the leadership and volunteerism Rotarians have contributed across decades.

“That leadership is just as critical as dollars raised,” Cunningham shared. “Thank you to every one of you who has had the heart to serve.”

This milestone is more than a number, it’s a testament to Rotary’s enduring promise to put People First, and to create lasting change right here in Northumberland County.
