Colonel Sean Friday and members of the 598 Air Cadet Squadron were guests of Cobourg Rotary on April 20. Colonel Friday spoke to the Rotary Club and updated us on the $8 billion face lift that is going on at CFB Trenton. Col. Friday explained the many operational missions 8 Wing Trenton has going on around the world and also spoke about the Canadian Forces Liason Council whose mandate is to support the Reserve Forces, many of which make it possible for our Regular Forces to operate on so many fronts around the world.
There was a sign up sheet for any company that would like to pledge support for the reserves. We were encouraged to have our companies sign up in support of the reserves. There is no cost and there may be some tax benefits in the future. There are great training opportunities for your employees should someone in your company want to be a reservist part time.
Col. Friday also talked about the benefits of hiring a reservist to work for you and showed some of the challenges they have learned to deal with.
